Default Used Car.. Questioning If?

The car had gears installed. My car is an automatic. Reason why Im asking is
that my speedometer is off by 8-10mph (faster). Have the same size rims all the way around, but smaller tires
in the front. Anybody?

also, when I bought it, previous owner installed mach 1 handing kit (upper/lower front sway bars, rear sway, lowered), mach 1 chin spoiler, mach 1 grille delete, k&n fipk, adjustable chamber plates, and unsure if he did anything else.

You will either need a speedcal or a programmer to correct your speedometer.

yeah, im planning on buying a predator, But is the speedometer off due to the smaller tires on the front or gears installed previously?

Smaller tires on the front won't have any effect on your speedo.

What size wheels/tires do you have in the rear? If you buy a speedcal, you will spend quite a bit of time trying to guess what you have for gears unless you get your car up on a lift and use the driveshaft trick to determine your gear ratio.

Reading 8-10 mph fast at what speed? If it's at 60 mph you likely have 3.73s.

As Dan02GT posted, the way to tell is jack up one of the rear wheels and count the number of driveshaft revolutions per one complete rotation of the rear wheel. Then compare to standard Ford gear ratios (3.27, 3.55, 3.73, 3.90, 4.10, or God forbid 4.30). BTW the stock ratio on your car is/was 3.27.

Ok, say If I get 3 full revolutions and a slight more .. How am I suppose to accurately figure out the "slight more" and end up with .27, .55, .73, .90 ?

If you get 3 full revolutions and the slight more is a quarter turn they are 3.27s, a half turn they are 3.55s, three quarters they are 3.73, almost one more complete revolution they are 3.90s, just a little over 4 full revolutions they are 4.10s, or 4 and a third revolutions they are (God forbid) 4.30s.
