Default SCT Data Logging

I tried searching SCT forums as well as these and really couldn't get a direct answer. Just to get it out of the way my firmware is up to date(1.2.11).

1. I have the SF3(Part #3015, purchased in Dec of 08). Can I data log without having a laptop directly hooked to the SF3 as it logs while driving? My understanding from reading the manuals is that I can by configuring a ".DLF" file through the livelink program, upload it to my device and then simply choose that .DLF file when I hook up my SFC to my car. I can then load that file back onto my computer after data logging and then view it. Am I wrong about this?

My problem is I cant seem to figure out how to upload my own .DLF to my SF3. Or is this even the right process? Should I being adding a "livelink" file, or both? Can anybody give me a step-by-step on how to configurate, save and upload my own custom .DLF onto my SF3(Part #3015)? Also...if possible....how to retrieve what I just data logged from my SF3 to my computer?

Can anyone at least confirm that the X3 and SF3 are exact in functionality in terms of data logging? Other than maybe different looking menus/wording on the device interface?

yes it does, I've done it.

After you Update PIDs, like you normally would before a datalog, go under the file menu, there should be options to save configuration and also export DLF files.

Then you have to use the updater program to transfer the DLF files, or at least thats what I did. Not sure if there is a more intuitive way of doing it.

Ok first of all TY a lot i'm sure thats what will get my .DLF uploaded, however....i'm having an interesting issue now. When I simply plug the SF3 in without holding cancel it starts to load itself up but as soon as you can hear the fancy noise it just shuts itself down. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for the device. This doesnt seem good......
