Default What will I need to bring to the shop to have gears installed?

Hey guys, sorry if this has been brought up already, I searched and didn't find a comprehensive list.

I have a 02 GT with 55,000 miles. I want 4.10's in it. Besides the actual ring and pinion gear, what will I need to bring to the shop to have it installed? Will I be able to use a tuner to adjust the speedo as well?

Thanks!

Auto? then you need a tuner to adjust the speedo. 5spd, then you dont have to do it right away. I wouldnt give a shop any handheld...just do it yourself when you pick it up. If the shop doesnt know what bearings/seals/and fluid to use...or needs you to supply it, then find another shop. please

Yes a handheld tuner can correct your speedo.

if you have high mileage, which you dont, its a good idea to replace the bearins while its apart, save on labor and just good practice...but its really your call. I would replace em though if i were in your shoes, but thats just me and im not a mechanic so...

+1 If the shop is asking you what parts are involved you need to find somewhere else lol

Just ask for a quote for parts and labor, what parts are included in that cost, then ask what the cost of just labor is if you provide the parts. I've said this before... While you might be able to get a cheaper deal buying the parts separately, often the shop will only warranty the labor when you supply the parts. That is not what you want especially with something as precise as a gear install. If they install them incorrectly, they can easily blame it on the parts you supplied.

Provide your own parts if they let you. Anything you buy from them will be marked up. Show up with everything in this link and you will be golden.
