Default New shoes on my pony!

Got my new Hankook 245/45/17's today.... I love that UPS truck! After rolling them around in the living room for about 30 minutes, intoxicating myself with the smell of new rubber, and roasting the last 3 millimeters of rubba off of the old, balded Falkens, I went and got them put on. Every intersection in my neighborhood has falken residue right through the middle of it! New tires squeal REALLY LOUD! They have a tread wear rating of 420, so they are not real sticky, but they seem to handle pretty well, and hopefully they will last a while. I am happy.

I need some new rubber for my 96. Would anyone like to donate a set of 4 245/45/17 Z's to me. I have to take a picture of the tires on mine now. The threads are sticking out on the inside of one of the tires and to think I drove it 50 miles to my house. Also 245/45's are stock right? Because I dont want to have to by a programmer or anything to fix my speedo..sorry for hacking your thread get some pics with the new tires on.

Stock tire size on a 17" rim is 245/45/17's, my Hankooks have a W rating as well.... I doubt you spend a lot of time at 130+mph... so they should be fine for you. Go to www.discounttiredirect.com I got the Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105 only $94! plus valve stems and warranty, total = $434

It could be that they were trying to screw me over but a tire place by my house said that it wasnt safe and they didnt even think they were allowed to put anything lower than a Z rateing on a GT because it was dangerous. But someone else I know has some Pep Boy H rateing on his 96 auto GT and he has had no problem. So your saying go with the W's? Are they that much cheaper?

PIP- the w/h/z, is just the speed rating of the tire...
Speed Rating
Q Up to 100 mph
R Up to 106 mph
S Up to 112 mph
T Up to 118 mph
U Up to 124 mph
H Up to 130 mph
V Up to 149 mph
W Up to 168 mph
Y Up to 186 mph
Z Up to 149 mph and over

You're car will not go 149 mph... so you don't NEED a Z rated tire. Whoever told you that was a moron and should not be allowed to seel tires... Most tires have a H speed rating which should be more than sufficient for your use.

Devinsteen, my H&R springs are on their way (along with my steeda subframes), should be here by wednesday at the latest, but it won' tbe until next week, prolly wed thursday I get them on..... I will post tons and tons of pics as soon as i figur eout how to resize/edit/host my pics. My new digicam is full of stang pics!
