Default fun facts about 4.10s

OK, I know that going really fast on the highway is dumb.

Anyway, I had a date tonight and on the drive home the highway was real empty and there were no on or off ramps coming for miles......so I kinda got on it a little and took notes for all of the people ask the following question: LOL

....and for some who have argued it.

Q: Do you lose top end with 4.10s?

A: HELLS NO!!!!!! I never got the car up to 150 with the stock gears. 4th gear pulls like a freight train until about 115 MPH at 5,500 RPM, which takes you to fifth at about 4,600 RPM where it starts to pull harder as the RPMs increase to 5,000 at 130......then she keeps on pulling until the speedo is buried at 150 MPH and 5,500 RPM. I took it to nearly 6K, just to be sure we could do ever 150 MPH.

2003 5 spd GT. BBK CAI, Magnaflow catted X pipe & catback, Predator tune, FRPP 4.10s and FRPP racing clutch......I have the speedo recal for the 4.10s done with the Predator, so you tell me if it's accurate or not.

P.S. The gas mileage SUCKS!!!!!!

Actually you can... if you have the power to get you there. I think 4.10's top speed is like 180.

Here's what it said

Your tire's diameter is 25.681 inches
At 6000 RPM in 5th gear, you're moving at 180.333 MPH

It also told me that I would be doing 165 @ 5,500 RPM

......I dunno, but I'm just telling you guys, what my DASH told me.

All I know is that it really doesn't take long to get the thing up to 5,500 RPM in fifth with 4.10s......and I did it tonight.

Thanks for your comment.

Top speed is not my "thing" either, that's why I chose 4.10s in the first place. I have had them in my car for over a year and never done this before.

People are always on here asking and arguing about the top speed of the car and the potential top speed of the gears. I figured that I have the car, I have the programmer and I have the gears, so I wanted to see for myself. I am simply stating what I saw.

BTW - I shut off the speed limiter with the programmer as well.

You can measure your tire circumference and check the gear calculator with the info.Stock speedo's are notoriously inaccurate at higher speeds also. The next time, take some brave soul with you and have them check your speed with a GPS unit.

The speed calculator also doesn't take into account wind drag and HP. Basically says you will run out of gear at XXXmph, not that you are capable of going that fast.

A stock GT hits a speed wall at around 150, 4.10s and mods help it push thorugh to about 160. After that you lack the HP to get any faster.

Look at what is needed to go 200mph, a Enzo with over 600HP

I did the whole GPS calculations ON VIDEO and the same people who doubted that I did 155 mph wanted a video of a GPS and my speedo. Well that I did and then they doubted the GPS. So there is no hope.
