Default 99 COBRA ENGINE REMOVAL TOP OR BOTTOM?

I was wondering, do any of you know how the motor comes out of a 99 cobra? Does it come out the top or is it one that must come out the bottom of the car? Thanks for posting.

well i suppose it could go either way, but its would be much easier to take it out the top IMO.

I was told that some only come out the bottom. Is that true? And if so, why?

I dont see any reason why it would HAVE to come out one way or another, but to come out the bottom would be a PIA I think. Coming out the top you shouldn't have to mess with the K member. Someone else want to chime in here?

if you have long tube headers its easyer to drop it out the bottom. IMO it would save some time to just drop it out the bottom with the trans attached. it would save time if you have a lift to use.

so then can the engine/trans assembly NOT come out the top together? To get it out the bottom, wouldn't the entire front suspension have to come out? Im just trying to understand here.

the suspension would need to come out... undo sway bar, undo ball joints, leave engine attached to kemember, drop k member onto a rolling cart with engine/trans still attached, use engine hoist to lift the nose of the car, then slide drivetrain out

If you have a lift taking it out the bottom is actually usually the easiest way to go with most cars. But it can work both ways on these cars.
