I have enough money to buy a 03/04 Cobra in the future. Would you buy the cobra and slowly mod it(while paying rediculous insurnace), or would you drop a KB 32v 03 motor with t56 in a gt and mod it out the *** with the money you save? Keep in mind that i am 18 and have a 99gt fully paid for with reasonable insurance. Any help or prior experiences would be greatly appreciated.

doing a KB to your GT is like maxing it out. the most you'll get safely is about like 450 maybe with supporting mods. the 03 Cobra can do that with a few minor bolt-ons. plus with the bigger 4v over the 2v. if i had the money i'd get a cobra either that or put money down on the new 07' Cobra[8D]

I am seriously looking into engine and tranny swap. I want a 32v 03/04 cobra engine, so with that engine and the kb, what do you think

The swap would be badass, and although it would take a lot of time, the sleeper effect your gt will have is going to be insane..

I'm going to do the same with my GT. 04 Cobra motor with whipple s/c 15 psi with all mods should give me around 600rwhp[sm=badbadbad.gif]

There is a lot more thinks to change then motor, tranny, s/c. just keep that in mind. The stock GT rear end will not take it. I've bin looking in to it for 2 months now. For all parts and all mods plus laber it will be around $20,000. It will problem be lower but I like to be high so I can save money. I was going to do it this fall but I just do not have the money right now. I'm going to buy fast and fun car like maybe the 06 wxr STI for everyday car so my mustang is for nice days only

By the way the STI is on order, I will have it by the end of August

Dude, you already answered your own question. Why not just slap a KB onyour 2v until you throw a rod, then rebuild the 2v forged with the money you would have spent on the cobra motor.

I agree with Acer. But if you did the engine/tranny swap then you have to look into a new fuel system, new axles in the rear end along with the carrier, a new ECU and wiring harness, ETC. If you can afford all of this then go for it. The 1.7 on a otherwise stock GT is only gonna run mid to high 12's.

Yeah... real funny. A car with almost 700 hp isnt meant for street tires and I do believe thats the only point Ive proven here. When I get some traction I think you fools here on this site will shut up and bite your tongues off for all the ignorant comments made here. Besides... I bet your car couldnt run a 12.1 on full slicks and a 500 shot of N2O!
