I have read a lot on there. Also I have learned a lot through talking with the guys I do HPDE's with.

CC has a lot of great info and some of it is riduclously intense technical stuff when it comes to suspension tuning. If you ask questions that have ever been answered before you will be ripped apart and given warnings.

Just read.

^ you mean battery relocation...

Kinda reads correctly though.. anyway, it will help with weight distribution for front/rear balance, but recommend you put your money into the HPDE classes. If you get into AX, you are looking at a real good time for pretty cheap. My full days are $35.00 and more fun than chasing a greased pig in a 4th July round-up.

I would recommend easing yourself into a few SoloII's before HPDE's as the SoloII's are typically smaller in scale, lower speed, and cost much less. Which reminds me I really need to get out to another event..

Thanks guys, this is a great thread with some awesome info. Lets keep it going...

So when i eventually do get my wheels and tires, i want to go with nitto nto5s, but AM docent carry them. I can get the same set up from another sight, but it'd be cheaper and the tires last longer if i go with nt 555s from AM. Are these a good tire that will handle street and autoX well?

AX is about the driver!

I recommend you drive your car in the condition it is in when you sign up. Don't mod your ride JUST to start doing AX, just go to have a good time (< semi-pun intended ) I have been to about 5 events and this past one is the first time I beat The Good Reverend Dexter. He has a '97 Cobra, but is 100% stock except for RA1's. My car has "Gobs more grip", to use his words, and took 5 tries to beat him. He also is rusty because he missed last months AX day.

Mod your ride when it begins to hold up your times.

Sounds good, thats what i want to do. I do need new tires first though, as the ones i have on it now are pretty badly worn down, so i figured id get good tires first. Though you make a lot of sense, no point jumping to a 200 treadwear compound, just yet at least..

If you NEED tires now and can afford to run a softer tire, GFI!

They will ONLY help on AX and you need them anyway, so get some stickys. My R888's (100 UTQG) are wonderful for DD as well as AX, but will likely go Advan A048's next year and are 60 UTQG.
