Default Please HELP!! SERIOUS problem!!!

Please read about this problem, I know it may be simple for you guys to determine, but I just need some help!

I was driving my car today, and noticed that my car has been making this creaking scraping noise when I press down the clutch. I figured something wasn't properly lubricated, so I got under there and had a look with a big light. I looked up and around the clutch area and noticed where the quadrant is, where the metal threaded clutch cable string thing? is... it is somewhat SHREDDED. There are metal shreds curving and scraping all around the quadrant area . The quadrant area piece looks like this (I dont have a new one of these):

So I bought this clutch cable about a year ago, because my clutch was squeaky for a little bit and I thought I might need a new one at that time. Here is what I have:

Is this part ALL I need? Is it difficult to install myself? How long would it take a shop to install it?

sounds like the clutch cable is about to go snap. Might as well replace it as soon as possible before your stuck driving the car with no clutch control via the cable. Installation is pretty basic. put the car up on ramps or jackstands and disconnect it from the clutch fork after removing the cover. unhook the side from under the pedal and feed it out of the firewall. then just undo one bolt and remove clutch cable from car. Run new clutch cable first running it through the firewall to the quadrant then to the clutch fork.

How long would you estimate before the cable snaps? Do I have a day? I just need to go 8 miles tomorrow to work and back
