Default blown engine

my car has 192,000 miles and im wondering what causes an engine to just stop working? what are the most common reasons people have to replace their engines? im asking because im thinking about just reusing my block when my engine stops working eventually. is there anything that would prevent me from being able to reuse it? i would probably just get an all forged rotating assembly kit when this happens. what other things should i do to the block itself?

When an engine goes its usually not the block that fails, but a rod bearing or piston/ring.

Most of the time the block is re-used during a rebuild. Blocks dont wear out... its when the components inside fail and damage the cylinder walls or crack something.

so what should be done to the block, given it is reusable, before i start throwing a new rotating assembly in there

That and... Check the main journals, posibly hone them. New oil plugs and freeze plugs, I'd surface the block aswell

Also.....how much will the stock blocks hold? If you're throwing a fully forged rotating assembly in there then that means you plan to put down serious power.....will this block handle that power?

Materials=Rotating assembly/plugs/whatever they need to bore it over.
