like jdaniel says. The LT1 and LS1's have 1.1 liters on us. Considering that, i think we do fairly well. Our V6 pony siblings are only .8 liters smaller than our 4.6's. So let us drop in a bored out 5.4 liter motor from the Ford GT and lets race.

All in all it took a detuned corvette engine to take a Mustang down. Now that Ford has produced the Terminator ('03-'04 Cobra) all the Chevy guys cry that it isnt fair. What isnt fair is that we are lacking 1.1 liters and the addition of a blown motor is more than fair enough. Hence my signiture. [quote]

i'm not trying to start anything here because i am going to get a mustang but the ls1 is all motor and on the 03+ cobras ford just bolted on a s/c. but i just thought i would lay that fact down. i mean don't take this the wrong way because like i said i am going to get a mustang.

Ummm... So by that you mean by Chevy replacing the crappy engines they used to use with a Vette engine is okay?[&:]

well i'm not trying to start something here[:'(] but i am just saying ford could have done more work on the motor than just bolting on a s/c.that's just my $.02. i agree with you that a newer cobra would beat a z.

Well the 4.6 is a what...281cid right? The LT1 and LS1 motors are 350cid. So both can produce a lot of power. But, pound for pound the power of the 281 is not going to touch the power a 350 can produce. Another thing you have to take into account is which one is going to hit there peak horsepower first? ALL of the 93-02 Camaros hit their peak HP @ 5,200rpm. Another thing you have to think about is the torque. All of the 93-97 Z28 models have 325lbs of torque @ 2,400rpm. 98-00 Z28 models have 320lbs of torque @ 4,400rpm, and all of the 01 and 02 Z28s have 335lbs of torque @ 4,000rpms. (I don't know any of the 94-02/04 Mustang RPM or torque specs.) Anyone??

No one believes that I made 276 to the wheels of my GT which is pretty close to what a LS1 would dyno at and that I ran several LS1's and stayed even or pulled. Now that I have a KB Cobra I cant even get into this kind of arguement because "It just isnt fair".
Close but about 25 hp short of average.

So 25 hp... that actually all comes down to difference in weight and driver experience.

hello everyone, its been while.

i think ford did a great job with the motor. specific output is a great way to compare engines,

ls1, 325 hp (i hope that's right). 325hp/5.7 liter = 57.0 hp/liter. nice & strong output.
99-04 GT, 260hp/4.6 = 56.5 hp/liter, nice & strong output
03-04 mach 1, 305hp/4.6 = 66.3 hp/liter, even nicer & stronger output
99-01 cobra, 320hp/4.6 = 69.5 hp/liter, even nicer nicer & stronger stronger output.
03-04 cobra, 390hp/4.6 = 84.78 hp/iter, i wish i had niceness & uber output.

anyway you dice it up, all the motors are strong for what they are. the difference in times comes from the package.

i welcome all critiques.
