Another problem, where do I look?
Ok, so I am about ready to drive my car off of a cliff, without me in it of course. Within the last couple of days my 98 GT (AOD) decided to start burning oil. Somebody told me it was burning oil yesterday but I didn't pay any attention to him because I did put a new offroad X pipe on the car and I knew that a little bit more smoke would come out of the exhaust than normal since there's no cats. Anyways, I was idling at a stop sign behind a couple of cars and everytime I hit the gas to move up, alot of smoke would come out of the exhaust. And the wind was blowing just right so it blew the smoke right in my window and smelled like burnt oil. The only time it seems to do it is after I have been idling and then hit the gas so it doesn't do it all of the time. The engine isn't pinging or knocking and still drives great. Where are some places I could look at on the car and is there anything you guys suggest I do? I go back to work tomorrow for 3 three days so the earliest I can look at the car is on saturday. I have never had a mustang burn oil on me so I am lost on this subject. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

with an O/R midpipe, don't you need to delete the MIL's to trick your ECU into thinking that the 02 sensors are plugged in back there and there are cats??
if a CEL didnt come on, im pretty sure one WILL come on soon, or your car wont run right... you need to turn your rear O2 sensors off somehow.. either tune, or MIL deletes
i think thats your problem. wait for others to chime in
and with an O/R midpipe, of course you are going to smell fuel and such, you have no CATS!!!! you went from 6 cats on the stock pipe to 0 on the new one

I did install the MIL's when I put the x pipe on and haven't had any problems with the pipe so I really don't think that's the problem. I am just trying to get some ideas from people why they would think the car is burning oil.

you dont have to take the cams out but they are a big pain in the a$$ and i mean BIG. it is best to take it to a shop it will save a lot of cussing and frustration. it is not for the faint of heart
