New Shifter for 2003 Mustang GT
Hi guyz I just purchased a new mustang and shifter is broken, I looked up online and saw these two shifter from steeda.
Both of them say they will fit 2003 Mustang GT but which is would you all prefer and whats the difference?
Also I want to install it myself to save some money, now do I have to change tranmission fuild once I install new shifter or can I just throw this in and I am good to go ?
which one?

Normally you need to look at which transmission you have by checking the sticker in the drivers door jam to locate the transmission code. Than based on the code, you will know which shifter is right for you. NOTE!: They are specific to which transmission you have, and do NOT purchase without knowing which tranny you have. However, you do not have a v6 and it clearly states on the T-5 the specific model years. You have the tr-3650 in your car.

Thank you so much I didnt know they are for two different transmissions. I will look it up in the morning and order one of them. Do you know if its easy to install this. I have never worked on any of my cars before.

I dont really know from expierence but from people I have heard that it isnt too bad to install. A novice maybe an hour or so. Im fairly confident you have the tr-3650 but it wouldnt hurt to double check. Good luck.

2003 GT has the Tremec 3650 5-speed.
You may want to look at the MGW shifter also, it's a fresh redesign of the mechanism not just a heavier duty version of the OEM shifter...

It's a really easy and straight forward install....one of those things that you end up thanking yourself for just attempting it and saving the money to have somone else do it
