Question Does this sound warm?

I'm new to the V8 guys so bear with me on this. My temp guage shows that it heats to about where the m is in Normal. I realize this is still in the mid range and it dosen't get hotter than that so the thermostat is workin. But is the normal range your used to seeing. I'm used to seeing a lower temp setting around the R. I don't want it to run hot on me or above specs. Just tryin to figure out what the norm is. Thanks for your help.

that sounds fine to me. I usually run between "O" and "M". Scared the **** outta me the first time it went to M since my truck, after 3-4 hours of driving, would only get to about where the "N" would be lol. But yeah, anywhere within NORMAL is...well, normal. If it gets to the L keep a close eye on it though.

In the Texas summer, mine would hit the L in stand still traffic and the A/C on. I had a scan tool hooked up and it never went over 219*f. I think 260*F is the full hot on these cars, so the gauges are a little bit off.

Ok thanks. I don't want to overheat my new to me engine. And I drive this car back and forth from Georgia to Louisiana every two weeks. Just wanted to be sure it'll hold for me.

The OEM coolant temperature gauge is far from being a precision device. Variations such as discussed above are normal, even between cars that came off the line on the same day, one after the other...
