Whats a PI sawp and how can I do it to my 98 GT?...thanx guys
PI stands for polished/ported intake...basically it's sandblasting your head for [sm=bling.gif] and porting the intake and exhaust valves to make em bigger allowing more air to be exchanged through your engine...porting if you have the tools you can DIY but leave the sandblasting to the pros
You sure? PI seems to have a weird meaning, no one seems real positive... some have speculated at Performance Induction or something. On the 94 - 99 cars doing the PI swap increases the compression of the engine above that's stock on the 99+(which already have the PI intake) which is why you need the higher octance fuel.

Is there really a difference? I use 91 in mine. Is that not a good idea?

PI, unofficially, means "Performance Improved" (or Power improvement, I've seen both on here). They're the heads that come on the 99-04 4.6L V8s in the GTs. They will net in a higher compression ratio when swapped onto 96-98 4.6L V8s. PnP means Ported and polished.

I'd suggest having a PnP be done by a professional as well as sandblasting. There are MANY easy ways to fugg up a PnP, and if you don't have a spare head to practice on, it makes it harder.

You don't need to, but it won't hurt anything... except you wallet.

I have a question,

I am doing a PI swap on my car along with a set of comp cams x262ah cams and exhaust, along with a tune.

I plan on running a 100 shot of nitrous later on.

Will I need 93 octane gas, or will 91 work?

I can't seem to find any 93 in my area, Dodge City, KS.

Higher octane is slightly less explosive, so going higher than you need can actually lose a little bit of power / gas mileage

I think this information is wrong, octane rating is just a RATING.. they say 87 octane is 87% octane and 13% heptane ?!?! B.S.

ALL gas is almost 100% octane.. there are trace deposits of other hydrocarbons and impurities that will make the gas more combustible, and by removing them, or adding other deposits, the gasses octane rating is raised, meaning it won't detonate as easily. You can have octane ratings over 100, that alone should tell you all you need to know about this article.

Stop posting this crap or I'll have you banned!!
