will the 4v terminator engine still fit into the 1996-1998's though? and does anyone have any idea what you would have to do to make it fit?
OMG.. a 2 ton V8 caterpiller motor from a semi truck will "fit" in any mustang, or any car whatsoever, well except for a mini cooper. damn man, do some research.. any mustang motor period will fit another mustang. you can bolt a 2004 model PI, cobra, 2v, it dont matter into a 1979 rust bucket notchback fox. or vise versa. you can put a 79 tiny straight 6cyl or a turbo 4 cylinder svo motor into a 2004 mustang body. if your a car guy, ANYTHING will fit with a big enough hammer or a saw..

sorry for the rant, ****!!!
dude what are you talking about, you poeple go all out when it's not neccesary, who's going to want to rip apart their engine bay to make something fit, think realisticly, realisctly a person isn't going to tear apart their engine bay to make something fit. any mustang motor CANT just fit right into any other mustang motor, try fitting a 429 in a 69 or 70 mustang, it won't fit, and no don't say "well yes it can, if you rip apart the engine bay", no normal person is going to go through that trouble.

Basiclly the higher compression, the more air/fuel is forced into a small spot right b4 combustion. Like diesel trucks they many times use block heaters to help with there high compression. So the less compression, easyer to be started in the cold.

theres alot more into it and i may be wrong, but thats the main idea

this post goes back to earlier in the thread. why does a compression bump make start-ups harder?
Quite a ways back Higher compression will require a starter that produces more torque... well, not require, but depending on how much the compression goes up, your stock starter may have some difficulties...

I think anyway, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
hmm i guess that makes sense.

ok im bumping this thread cuz i gotta few questions about the p.i. swap im about to do.

1)alright so the coolant cross over AND water neck from my old set up will swap over right?
2)thermostat too?
3)if i dont buy new headers will the old cast iron stockers swap over? or is there a different exhaust port design?
4)im assuming i can keep the old plugs, wires, and coil packs too, w/ out doing a COP conversion.
5)are the injectors thesame from npi to pi?
6)when getting the dyno tune done will it be neccessary to do a 93 octane tune? or will it not matter?
7)since i might be doing this myself i need to know the trick as to how u get the crank pulley off w/o moving the crank.

1) If you have the updated intake manifold with the aluminum crossover you'll be set to swap it right over. If not, you're going to have to drill and tap the second bung for the coolant temp sensor.
2) Thermostat is the same.
3) I'm running my stock NPI manifolds on my PI heads. Althought, now is a good time to upgrade.
4) The old plugs, wires, and coil packs will work fine.
5) Injectors are the same.
6) You'll need to run 93 octane or 91 octane after a dyno tune.
7) Remove the bolt in the center and use a dampner pulley puller or three jaw puller. To get it on, make sure the key way is lined up and use an installer.
8) Yes, your C&L will swap over fine.

I have a 1998 GT and i plan on rebuilding my motor and doing a PI swap this winter. I want to get Ford Racing heads and a Trick Flow Track Heat upper intake manifold with a 75mm throttle body. Does this sound like a good set-up? will the Trick Flow be worth it over a stock PI intake? Will my current CAI work with this set-up?

not unless you have blower planned in the future other wise its a waste in my opinion. id stick w/ a stock pi intake.

What's up fellas ? This thread has to some kind of record, started in July '05 and still had a reply yesterday.

Anyways, I bought a '96 GT last week with 90k on it. Hasn't seen snow since 2000, can't say before that. I've read this whole thread and was thinking about this swap also. It's the 1st time with any mod-motors so ...

Well can't be worse or more costly than the Yamaha motor I've been playing with in my '92 SHO for the last 5 years, but I just sent it down the road. Had over 350k on it and still ran like a top so no knocks there.

Now it time for the stang. I'm really glad this thread is active and you'll definitely see me around. I plan on doing PI heads and intake, this plenum & TB http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS, and these headers http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS.

The Heads and intake will most likely come from a salvage yard and be P&P'd by a machine shop.

Only question for now is do the prices seem right for the TB and headers, or should I continue looking ?

Your thoughts ....
