Default BBK CAI...Plug?!

so I was looking at the installation video on americanmuscle.com for a refresher cuz i helped my dad on his 04, and my gf is talking bout getting one for me for xmas(im gotta marry her lol) anyways and in the video it mentioned a plug to go in an unused hole meant for the V6, well she calls and asks to put this plug in the order and they said that a plug didnt come with it, to jus cover it with black tape until i get a plug...WTF is that!

well anyways do any of ya know what to use, or what you used yourselfs?

Unless BBK has modified the part in the last two and a half years, you shouldn't need a plug for anything. I have a #1718 (I think that's the part #) which I think goes for all 96-04 GT's. The only hole in mine is for the temp sensor, and two female ends to slip the hoses over for a vacuum line and idle air. Pretty sure the one for V6's are a different part #. If the part has changed, that's lame BBK doesn't supply the plug, and even lamer that they recommended you cover the hole with tape until you figure something else out.

see thats what I thought, cuz I didnt remember my dad's BBK CAI having any "extra" hole either, which I know the V6 needs an extra hole for some sensor, but yea I guess thats what they told my gf when she called about it. anyways thanks for the reassurance.

You would plug the hole if your maf has a built in iat sensor, if not then thats where yours goes. I can't remember which years had the maf with built in iat so just check your intake tube for one then you'll know.

yours should have the mas built in, i think from 02 up they have it built in,is it a threaded hole if it is then you should be able to get a brass plug from home depot or auto parts store

i think it might have been 2001.5 because it seems that all the major changes on new edges were made in late 2001 but labeled as 2002 or some crap like that

YA its for the air temp sensor if you need it. On the K and N kit you have to drill the hole and install a grommet if you have the sensor. I don't know what years need it or not, but I do know my 2000 GT had the sensor and my 2003 doesn't have the sensor. So maybe it was a pre 02 thing to have the external one, maybe a ford parts pro can help us on this one. I been doing some research myself in trying to bring my GT back to stock.
