Question Engine Help

2001 Stick Shift Convertible GT Mustang
A hose that coolant went through popped off the other day, and I reconnected it with a clamp and put in a Gallon and a half of antifreeze back in. Now it idles at around 1000-1200 rpms, but i think that's only when the engine isn't warmed up. It might go back down to around 700 when the engine is warmed up, but I'm not sure, but it also feels more susceptible to stall, when I start going from a stop in first gear, than before. It also reacts slow to bring the rpms back down when i let off the gas, and also brings it down slower. And sometimes the rpms randomly go up or down for no reason.

Does anyone know why this is? or what's wrong?

What caused the hose to pop?

I'm not sure exactly, it was a couple days ago in the rain, smoke started coming from the hood.

Well, if it overheated and caused the hose to pop off or burst, you could have done some srs damage to the engine block. I would have a mechanic look it over.

Ah not good :/ How much do you think it'd be to repair if that's the case?

worst case, new engine= $3500 +$1000 labor=~$4500 I would say. Have a mechanic check it out though, just depends what happened.

the idle stays at 1000-1200 when its cold than once it warms up it drops to around 700.
