The proper way to drive manual on a stang
This was bothering me for a while and i just never had time to get these questions across. Im good with an auto and descent with a stick. I learned on a 300zx and i just want to find out how mustang manual trannys are driven. Shifting points during cruising, and shifting points during a race (when you want to push it just alittle). Proper downshifting, Take offs, etc.. Im really concerned and curious. It would help greatly in prefecting my skill. If there are any techniques that are not commonly known feel free to let me in on it. I just never had the opertunity to learn on a mustang the only manual car that was avaliable to me was a 300.

About the same around town, but I pull the stick at about 6000 in a race. For manuals, I highly recommend an aftermarket shifter. I have the Steeda myself. With the stops properly adjusted, you can slam that thing through the gears without damaging the shifter or bending the forks. My buddy shifts at the rev limiter. Once the computer starts pulling power, he power shifts (no clutch) into the next gear. I'm not quite that brave.

powershifting is not taking your foot off the gas and using the clutch. you push the clutch in and slam the gear as fast as you can with out lifting your foot of the gas, keeping it to the floor. as said above, not using the clutch is just retarded, just a matter of time till u start loosing your gears.

Don't you guys read the posts? I said he does it to his car. There is no way in hell I would do it. Christ, it's his car, I'm not telling him how to drive it. (Especially since I can't keep up with his Cobra)
I don't agree with him, but it is his car. Period. Geez, let it go.
