The 2002 model year cars went on sale in August/September of 2001--so they came with owners manuals printed (and copyrighted) in 2001...

Aside from that it doesn't matter, 6.0 qts is the proper amount of oil to run in any '99 to '04 4.6L 2V GT engine. If you have a '99 to '01 then just fill it with 6.0 qts and re mark the dipstick.

thankyou cliffy and all for all your help on this revisited topic and after everyones input and numerous searching times i agree 6 quarts for sure any 99-04 4.6 gt
