Default Trans lock question..

Hey guys, I posted this under the "Line Lock" topic, and figured, since no one had answered and I was wondering...

-I have a module that a friend gave me, that says on the outside "Trans-Locker." It's made by Deddenbear (sp?), and I've been trying to guess on what it does... I don't have much exp w/ Autos, and assumed it was to keep your auto in a specific gear until you set the shift point, almost like an electronic shift kit??

Am I close???

Default RE: Trans lock question..

A trans brake allows you to stall the tranny convertor when you give it gas. What it does is engage the reverse circuit and 1st gear circut at the same time. When the trans brake is turned off it dumps everything into the 1st gear circuit. Essentially dumping the clutch. You can do the same thing with your brakes but the response time of brakes compared the the trans brake is much more. Not very useful on a street car that sees ocasional track time. More for dedicated track cars where consistantcy and a few hundred milliseconds is important
