Quickshift_02GT: There was a thread about it and If I remember corectly you do not need afermarket cc plates if you are planning on a drop lower than 2" if it is above 2 you need to have more flexible CC plates for alignement.

Odd.

MaximumMotorsports and many other pro sites say the exact opposite. That doesn't even make sense. The internet is a confusing place...

Generally the answer would be no. Most cars have a good 10-13cm (4-5 inches) movement in their suspension from the factory. As most of the lowering springs you can buy only lower by 2-7cm (1-3 inches), your suspension should still be well within it's designed operating limits. Therefore, caster and camber angles shouldn't need looking at.

Seriously if your going to pay over 200. just do it yourself.. Take the 200. and go buy yourself a air compressor, air tools, and jack stands and thats about all you need besides a couple hours of your day.

I was quoted at $200 to install my springs. Decided that I dont want to spend $200 so a buddy and I are going to take the time and do it ourselves.

Just make sure you have air tools!! The job will suck without them.

Not true...

It's easy as poo.... Buy a GOOD floor jack and STURDY Jack stands (I use the 6 tonners for more clearance), so that's what, $120 or so, tops.... Then buy yourself a GOOD starter set... it's more expensive to start small and piece it together... Sears used to be having a huge tool sale, I dunno if they still are.

Get a 150+ piece set and you're golden. It's not until you start tearing down motors that you'll need sockets you don't have. (damn you deep well metrics!)

Needing air tools... Done it 3 times now without them, still takes me less than two hours.

Regardless of how much you drop it, you're going to have to correct the steering geometry or start eating tires. CC plates, bumpsteer kit, or offset rack bushings. I could be wrong, but I don't think you can fix the alignment using the stock adjusters.

Ok for one air tools are much easier than no air tools, we used a impact wrench on everything with the settings on low and you can take the tires off in less than 20 secs. Much easier take my word for it.. I had to do two in two days and I would have walked if not having any air tools.

Second you wont need camber plates, bumpsteer plate or bushings unless you want them for the hell of it. Mine is lowered 2.5 inches and I lower cars alot for friends and none of us have had any problems with the tires wearing in abnormal spots. I didnt even have to align mine, but I went to have them check anyways in which he told me I was fine.. this was at Les Schwab. I have had mine lowered for a year and a half and have gone through one set of tires just from normal driving.
