What size tire will fit on the 17 x 8 rims that came with the gt, it had 245's but i was wondering if 255 or 265 would fit with a 45 sidewall.... traction sucks, i replaced the rear tires after i fried them one night with toyo fz-4's and they dont hook up very well.... im pretty set on the g-force but i need to know what tire size will fit

On the 17 x 8 wheel you can comfortably fit 245-45-17's and possibly the 255's..but anything wider will not fit properly. Yes you could probably squeeze teh 265 on the wheel, but you'll be pinching the sidewals and the tread surface will have a concave alignment and the sidewalls will not function safely when turning. I'sd stick with 245's then get wider wheels for the rear if you want more traction.

Why dont you upgrade to a larger Wheeel, say 18-19" and then fit a 275 tire on them. Justa thought. I have 275 toyos on mine and I have a lot of traction.

They do hook for s**t....great traction..I proved this to myself last week taking a 90 degrees curve at 65 MPH with the top down, what a thrill!

i took an onramp at 100 (prolly 20 degrees or so) and i ended up powersliding the entire way onto the highway.... even with the clutch in it wouldnt stop sliding all over............. 90 degrees at 65 aint sh%$ i usually dont dip too far below 70 (unless the place is too well patrolled) and take every turn like that.... i say it again toyo's are garbage... btw what model do you have?

03,

What Toyo's? Were they T1-S or the FZ4's? Now IMHO...just because you couldn't hang the ramp at a 100mph doesn't make the tires sh*t....first of all you pulled in the clutch, bad move (unless you were going to hit something or stall...when in a spin both feet in is my preaching to new racing students)....and second of all come on, 100mph on an on ramp???? Sorry not trying to flame, but there are a lot of missing details here. Like what model of Toyo's, what was the air pressure? Were the tires up to operating temperatures? What was the climate like? How was your stang set up? Was the on ramp clear of debry, oil, water, dust, anti-freeze etc.? What was the ambient temperature etc...? Now most tires these days are fairly good and every manufacturer has their low-end tires, and most people cheap out when it comes to tires..that is a fact because they really do not understand that tires are the one thing you get what you pay for in terms of performance. I always tell my driving/racing students, that the two most important improvements that you can make to a vehicle is one: educate the nut behind the wheel, and two: put good tires on!! Now I am not refering that you are not an educated driver at all, just letting you know where I'm coming from as far as tires go. Toyo has a low end tire that is very popular, especially with the cheap crowd and Ricers...it's the FZ4's (Nitto, Toyo's sister company has the Nitto NT 450;s..same as the FZ4's)..they are cheap. but they really are not performance tires and they are All-Season tires M+S..right there you can see that with all season's you're not going to get the best performance (red this as grip) out of em'!!! Toyo T1-S are their performance tires and they are not cheap, and they are fantastic dry and wet traction tires (although they are really sensative to correct air pressures)!!! BUT..they are expensive. 275-35-18's are over $240.00 each..not cheap at all..but in the range of high performance tire costs. Go to www.toyo.com and check them out, and BTW..if you hate the T1-S, then Toyo is the only manufacturer that stands by their tires with a 500 mile and 45 days guarantee that says if you hate em' they'll refund you $'s...now that says a lot to me!!

Sorry no flames intended, but by your post I felt it necessary to bring out some important views... especially when someone trashes a product (any product whether it's tires or intakes etc.). It doesn't mean that the product isn't trash, I just believe that information about why in a more scientific sense justifies the reviewers position much better than just saying that the product is crap..IMHO. I want to know specific information so I can formulate an opinion based on facts not hearsay or "Butt-O-Meter" feelings LOL..!!! ..No flames...just my opinions...

I have FZ4's and they are not cheap( may be cheap is a relative term) , paid > $800 for them. Again, great traction, I will go for more expensive ones next time to satisfy TAQ 9.

2K Pony,

Dewd, ya don't need to satify me Really as long as you are pleased with your tires then who really cares. My post was directed at comments made by 03muskrat..and they were not meant to flame at all, but to enlighten the review. Anyways, T1-S are really good tires...and man if you paid that kind of money for the FZ4's..I'd buy your next set of tires from another dealer cause you got ripped!!! Give me a PM...Sorry if you were offended...no flames were intended at all...
