Default GOOD Performance Value?

On a boring, lazy Sunday having read the Sunday paper I was out perusing the Ebay Motors listings to get an idea on going prices of cars equivalent performance-wise to Mustangs.

Only a few Evo’s, SRT-4’s, and WRX STI’s out there, and most are in the mid-high $20’s. (If that was my budget, I'd get an 03/04 Cobra, or even an older Z06.)

There was one 02 WRX (no leather) with a few thousand more miles on it and list price was a few grand more than my Stang: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...QQcmdZViewItem.

There were a few SRT-4’s in the teens, but one was water-salvaged (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...QQcmdZViewItem) and still more than what I paid for my car, and the other was in an accident and rebuilt with no reserve: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-...QQcmdZViewItem.

Maro’s T/A’s seemed to be the exception, with relatively reasonable prices, but the trade off is high miles. This auto seems to be lusted unusually low: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...QQcmdZViewItem. Plus the interiors of Maro’s and the likes just doesn’t do it for me…

I picked up my manual 2002 GT Premium for $13K with 30K miles (bone-stock). I’ve dropped close to two-grand on my mods (SLP Catted X & LM II’s; K&N FIPK; FRPP 4.10’s; Steeda UD Pulleys; Eibach ProKit & MGW Short Throw) in all fairness of this comparison, with other mods planned (SLP LT Headers, Accufab TB & Plenum, possible NOS, etc. for now).

SO, is it just me or are Mustangs a pretty good values when it comes to performance versus cost in comparison to the market and competition?

<edit> For this comparison I was considering the 99 - 04 4.6 GT's, priced accordingly between $12k - $20k.
