Default New x-pipe install issues

I'm trying to put on a new x-pipe for a 98 gt. I'm running into issues with the passenger side. I can't quite get the o2 sensor out because the end of it runs into metal, so i can't get it out all of the way until the pipe is off. But, I can't remove that bolt just above that sensor either because there's not enough room to get sockets in there. Any suggestions?

I installed an x pipe on my 01 gt vert, and I've got one on my 96 GT coupe....the o2 sensor should just pop out. Some advice let the car completely cool down (preferably over night, but if not give it a few hours), wait until your exhaust is cool to the touch, then if you still cant get it out spray some WD40 on it let it sit for a few min. and then try it. I didnt have any issues popping it out, but like I said wait till it's cooled down.

No, I can loosen it fine, it's just that I can't get it out all of the way, because the end that's closest to me ends up running into some metal part of the car, so I literally cannot remove it, unless the midpipe is off, which is what I can't do because of the o2 sensor...

Alright, I attached two, the one is the view of the o2 sensor, and the other shows the o2 sensor being in the way of removing that other nut/bolt

I think I vaguely remember mine being a pain to get out on one side but with a little force it came out. Then I figured something out and i never had the issue again......

try an assortment of swivel elbow etc....maybe get around the 02 to get the bolt out, then take it out when the pipe is off. seems odd you cant take the 02 out....is it a factory setup? maybe some shop put that pipe in and didnt think of 02 removal clearance?

Brace up the pipe with a jack or 2 x 4's on both ends and see if you can drop the pipe an inch or so for the clearance you need. Or, have a friend hold the pipe up while you lower it, gently.

We tried to raise the pipe up, but that didn't work. All we could do is lift the whole car with the jack on a cat and tried it on the tranny. We might just undo one of the engine mount bolts and see if we can lift the engine up just enough unless anyone else has any other ideas.
