Mine works intermittently. I was thinking of changing the sensor right around the oil filter too.

that's really all it could be I would think. Have you visually inspected it for damage?

There is no oil temperature gauge on a new-edge GT--unless you have some after market thing someone added?

its either the sensor, wiring, or cluster. Check the sensor first and the wiring around it. Replace sensor, if all else fails go aftermarket.

As to your original question, if you have driven more than 5 miles since the gauge stopped working then it's either the sensor or the gauge--the engine would have seized by now if there were no oil pressure...

My buddies car had a broken wire right around the fuse box under the hood. so double check the wire coming from the sender before replacing the part

ya it works fine i just noticed everytime i started it it just went to the same spot hahaha. i was thining it was oil temp lol. u no like ur water/coolant temp gauge going up as car gets hotter thats what i was thinking about the oil temp. but then i realized it was oil pressure. so it was just a dumb misunderstanding of me.

It always "goes to the same spot" because it's an idiot gauge--the pressure "sensor" is really just a pressure operated switch that closes when the oil pressure is greater than 6psi. When the switch is closed the gauge goes to more or less full scale.

Most mass-produced cars that have oil "pressure" gauges work the same--as it reduces warranty calls from jerks that don't know anything about how engines work. They freak out because the oil pressure "varies all the time", is "high/too high when the engine is cold", "takes a while to come up", etc.

Mazda put a dummy o/p gauge in the Miata in '94 in response to such issues.
