Default Mach 1 vs. GT

hey, one of my buddies as an '03 GT, and i was just wondering what would have to be done to a GT to keep up with a Mach. They're both 5spds, and both bone stock. Just curious, thanks guys.

You meant 16 more valves right? Or two more per cylinder.

16 more valves. 2 per cylinder x 8 cylinders = 16. You will need a few bolt on parts, gears, exhaust, throttle body and plenum, and nitrous or s/c or something if you really want to blow him away. But with the other mods and some sticky tires you hould be running with him.

The GT will need full bolt ons basically. If 305hp is correct at the flywheel, then it sould have around 270rwhp. W/o nitrous, the gt will need full intake, exhaust and a cam. Its not that hard to reach, but almost nobody has a 270rwhp gt. Gears would help!

I wouldn't know. My friend has mod'd his '04 Mach as I have mod'd my '02 GT so he has always blown me away! I think that I'm near 300HP CRANK according to dynos and he's near 345 crank according to the same dynos (given 5-speed parasitic loss). He's got 4.30's now and I've got 4.10's. I'd like to run against a bone stock Mach 1 some day and I'm sure it would come down to tires and driver. The Mach would take my GT if the tires and driver were equal I think because it also rev's higher, has stiffer frame etc. By the way, I"m still running the sucky OEM goodyears so at this point I couldn't run against a camry!

Look at my mods.. I've raced an 03 Mach and we were both even entirely until mid 4th gear and he started pulling on me.

Intake, exhaust, gears and a lot of practice. A good driver hitting his shift points will make up for a lack of power.

Ran one of my friends in his mach agaisnt my 03 gt and he beat me in the quartermile by and i still have the slip somewhere. He beat me by .001 in the quartermile. All it took was pullies, k&n filter, x-pipe and catback with bald tires.
