Default pi intake swap complete

just did the pi intake swap and I got say it was a whole lot easier than I thought. I really thought this motor looked intimidating, but honestly when you get the air intake off and the coolant resovoir off you have a lot of room the work with. I know I need to wait 24hrs or so before I put the coolant back in but I wanted to start it tonight (I was so excited lol) just to make sure it would start. I haven't put any water back in it yet so I started it and let it run for about 10 sec and it acts like its gonna die it will idle at 800 or so for a sec then drop to 3-400 and go back up and down like this so I turned the engine off and checked over everything and started it back up and the same thing happens. would not having any water in it cause it to surge like that?

To let the rtv sealant cure in the water jackets to make sure you dont get a leak.

Yeah checked everything. before I did the intake swap it would not go through the warm up cyle idle where is idles high for a min or so when you first fire it up. When you start it it will go straight to 800 and go down to 4-500 for a sec then it would idle fine till you shut it off then start it agan then it would do the sam thing. Im just wondering since I the the bigger intake it just inhanced the little problem I had before and made it bigger now. I will just wait and put water in it tomorrow and see if that helps anything and try to reset the idle.

Someone who had it before me messed with the idle set screw so thats why I was having the idle issue but I hope when I put a new throttlebody body on it will fix it.

If it doesn't idle fast when its cold, it's probly the IAC not working properly. I had the same symtoms and replaced the IAC and it fixed the problem. I can unplug the IAC and crank the car and it goes straight to set idle even on cold startup. As long as the idle screw isn't too far out of wack the computer can compensate and get idle back where its suppose to be.
