please refer to the 4.6 tech section for info about this. Gears are awesome. You might want to consider 4.10's unless you plan on doing FI soon. check out mustangtuning.com and brenspeed.com they both have good customer service and good prices.

should have gotten 4.10s. you're going to put them 3.73s on and you'll feel one hell of a difference. you'll think you may have gone too high at first. after you get used to them, you'll be kicking yourself in the **** for not going with 4.10s. even if you go F/I, you'll want 4.10s. everyone that says 3.73 for F/I is just going by word of mouth from one person that didn't like it.

Please get the 410's. I totally agree with nanaki. I wish i would have gotten more gear. F/I is forced induction(AkA supercharger/turbo) some people dislike 1st gear with 410 and a supercharger. I know nothing about gears on blown cars. I do know about gears on my car, and u say ur looking for a difference, well then get the 410's. U will need a speedcal from Dallas Mustangs or a handheld tuner to correct the speedometer. Good luck and dont dissappoint urself with the 3.73's.

PS do the bearing thing! it doesnt cost that much, and if ur car has alot of miles on it then get um. My car had 49k when i put gears in and i bouight them anyways.

just take your car to a performance shop and have them do the whole thing. for the gears + install + fluids, etc, look at about $400-$500. maybe even cheaper depending on the area. a speedcal as mentioned would be another $100. you could also get a tuner to correct your speedo, but i really wouldn't unless you have a bunch of other bolton mods. the tuner will give you a tune to give you some extra ponies, but it'll make you have to run 93 octane. not really worth it so early on in your modding career.

yeah, 4.10s or bust man. i have a vortech on my car and totally want 4.10s now. i just don't want to spend another $500 for new gears.

If u are unsure of what to go with...3.73s or 4.10s...some manufacturers make a 3.90. Ford DOES NOT and after exploring this just as u (I just ordered my gears yesterday) and what I have found is that some gears whine, some are a bit harder to install, and some gears some shop JUST WON'T TOUCH. Thats why I went with Ford gears...they are shop/car friendly.

If you don't do much highway driving then 4.10s will be probably more than enough...if you DO DRIVE ALOT like me...then u need to decide how much fuel u want to burn and how much u don't mind clutching etc in bad traffic (like me) then maybe 3.73s are fine. Granted...I don't have a supercharger YET and not sure if I want to considering it is my family car...lol

Hope you are happy with what works best for you!!!

still shatty reasoning there. there's a 200rpm difference between 3.73 and 4.10. regardless of what people say, gears don't affect your gas mileage a lot at all. you'll see a few miles difference per tank. your foot is the deciding factor with your gas mileage. you'll have more aggressive acceleration and want to use it more. unless you plan on doing 85+ on the highway, then by all means, get 3.73s. even then, i'd get 4.10s. like i said, i have 3.73s now with a supercharger, i do quite a bit of highway driving and tons of time in traffic and i still wish i had gone with 4.10s.

Actually...

I often have to travel out of state a lot and I frequently travel 85+ mph for hours at a time.

Hence 3.73 FOR ME.
