Default Ouch! Engine!

My stang is idling like poop, huge loss in power, check engine light is flashing at me.

I'm hopping it's just low on oil.

A friend of mine that graduated from UTI is stopping by later to have a look see.

Does someone on MFs have any tips or useful speculation?

If it's "just low on oil", and you have "a huge loss in power", then it's not something to be hoping for; as you will also have some serious engine problems to deal with.

As to tips--get the code(s) read, write then down (the codes, not what the well-meaning person at the FLAPS thinks the problem might be), and then look them up here...

He has a reader, we won't even have to look up the codes.... the device has a LCD display.

What is the FLAPS?

The scanner will only give you the generic descriptions, the site I linked has possible causes and diagnostic info.

FLAPS = Favourite Local Auto Parts Store

Popped a spark plug and consequently the coil on plug.

Damn aluminum heads, happened to my friends Terminator too.

What can you tell me about those Weapon X plugs, worth the money over stock?

Just for future reference, a flashing CEL usually means it's got a misfire.

Do you men Weapon X COPs?

They are quite nice, and in an n/a application serve to make the engine happier--however there is no great rush of power as the stock COPs are adequate to the task. As to cost they are quite a bit less than the OEM units which are $70 to $85 each ($560 to $680 a set, new) last I knew.

The Weapon X Street COPs are $270.

Buy a 1/4" drive torque wrench. A good one is $75 to $100+, but that's a lot cheaper than getting a timsert installed...

The MSD cops are also another good choice.
My friend really likes his.
I would also change your spark plugs since you will be taking the cops
out anyway.

I have no plans for new cylinder heads right now, especially when JBA just quoted 300-400 dollars on a helicoil job.
