Default 2000 GT wont turn over

About a week ago I tried to start my car and it wouldn't turn over. After having my batt check out and finding out it was good, I put it back in and still no go. The next day i tried to start it and it started right up. Well today drove it to an interview and when i tried to leave, it did the same thing. I put the key in, electrical works, then as soon as i turn it i get nothing. I kind of feel like it could be the anti theft but im not for sure. I have two different keys and it did the same thing with each. After i try to start it then the electrical completely shut off and nothing works. Does anyone have any advice on whats going on or how i can troubleshoot this? Thanks.

I had the same problem.I've mentioned the key switch being bad.I tested the key switch(w/no power) and it was fine but under a load(w/power) it was bad. You might want to see if your voltage drops at the battery when you turn your key switch.

is it an auto or a stick? 2 things i could think of would be the clutch safety switch. And check your grounds for your starter.

im not sure how to test it honestly. I would check all your connections first and than go and look into the clutch switch. I was having the same problem and i came to find out that the idiot that put my old motor in that just blew didnt hook the ground up along with other things i wont go into.

It will defiantly take some investigating. Ive had a similar problem before and it turned out my key was bad. I took it to a Ford dealership where my friend worked and he hooked me up with a couple of new keys. Ive tried both of them and still nothing so who knows what it could be?

It sounds as though the battery has a bad cell--how did they check it? Just a voltmeter or did they use a high current (250A to 500A) load tester?

I tested it with a voltmeter and also took it to autozone. Not sure what their tester is.

It actually started today and i was able to drive it home. I just kept disconnecting the negative batt terminal and connecting it and tried to start it until it finally started. That was about an hour ago. Im going to check if it starts again in a bit.
