Default IS THIS NORMAL? (Gauge Cluster Question)

When i turn the key to start my engine, all the instrument needles (oil, battery, gas, temp, rpm, mph) rev to the limit, and then move back to their normal place when the engine is on. I don't recall my car doing this before i had my suspension installed -the battery was d/c for a long time. I saw this on most newer cars like 06+ subarus. So is this normal?

Thanks for all the responses guys, guess some others were wondering the same thing. To be honest i was afraid of getting the occasional "STFU noob CLICK THE SEARCH BUTTON" answer lol. Because i searched this forum and search engines too before i asked.

Well, what are you guys' thoughts about batteries? I had a optima red top in my 95 TransAm for 3 years, it was great. I don't have a sound system, but i live in Arizona where its usually 116 degrees during the summer time (battery killing weather).
