Bad Day In Stangville
I was on the way home today from work and my buddies girlfriend finally let him bring in her 2006 eclipse with the v6 (which could keep up with me until about 85 then i pulled on him hard) and i had my Automatic out of overdrive to really get up the RPM's and i get to 110 and decide to throw it into overdrive and it didn't want to go in so i let off and it went in. i then raced him with the overdrive on and we got on it and i felt the car wanting to shift from 4th to 3rd alot and then when i got to 110 it seemed like the car went out of gear. i tried it several times and finally turned off the OD and the 3rd gear picked it up. So i no longer have overdrive in my car. I thought that it seemed like it was confused a while back and when i put in the 4.10's it really felt like it was confused so it has been going out for a while. it is really a drag because the car only had 49000 mile on it. I talked to a guy that has built trannys for over 20 years and he said that for 2500 dollars he would put the best stuff in the tranny and a 2500 stall and said it will handle anything i could throw at it and would back it up for 3 years and promised my satisfaction. this will probably be the way i go so it looks like i will be driving my 2000 Lincoln LS for a while. does ford offer a longer time on their trannys or will i just have to pay the man.

Did you do a lot of 3rd to overdrive full throttle shifts before? It will make it to where you won't have an od anymore.
And I'd get that guy to build your tranny, although go with a 3200 stall.

yeah i know that OD is not ment for racing that is why i had it off. yeah i think i am going to have it built by him but do you think a 3200 stall will be fine on the road as far as drivability. man you dont know much about the new eclipses they are rated at 263HP, they are front wheel drive and i did say that at 85 i pulled on him very hard. called ford and they said that if i didn't buy the extended warranty i would not be covered.

Judging by your sig, I see that you don't have an aftermarket tune or computer. You might want to have the car hooked up to the drivability computer to see what codes you might have. I have seen wild gear ratios (4.10s too) throw off the computer which will bring up other problems down the road. Believe it or not, I had shifting trouble on mine when I changed gears. It seems to do that sometimes with the stock ECU...at least on the autos. Sometimes you can change the parameters of the speedometer pickup. You have a limited range though, I doubt you could spec it to match 4.10 gears. Go with a Diablo or Hyper.
