mustang in winter?
I live in new england so I have heavy winters here. However since I will b turning 18 soon and graduating my parents have to deceided to spend 15-20k for me a new car. How exciting, ill have to use my 97 mustang now as a down payment but I have one question to those 4.6 guys. Which is the mustang I am hoping to get. How does all that power handle in the snow or does anyone else live in NE?? I would like anything you can tell me because I have to have this car as my daily driver as well.

These cars were never intended to go well in snow.People say to get a set of Blizzak tires and that helps. The first time I took my 04 out in snow I thought the tranny had jumped out of gear(IDIOT) but the tires were just sitting in one spot spinning at idle in first gear.Get some crappy rims and snow tires and take it easy untill you figure out how to drive these cars in snow.Power is not your friend here!!!Look into getting a beater for winter use,I drove my wife's mini van when snow was forecast.

I live in NE (Nebraska that is) and we get pretty fierce winters. The car handles like ****, plain and simple. If you have high-performance tires, forget it - you might as well ride around on a sled. With some winter tires (and even sandbags for rear end weight) you get around a little easier, but still not as well as other vehicles more accustomed to the northern winter climates.

I live in NY. I drove it throw the first winter. My car was stock. There was 2" of packed snow on the roads, I had to start in third gear, and I could not go any faster then 20mph in fifth gear. I got stuck 2 years a go when it snowed with all the mods you see below. I would not go anywhere[:@] Mustang's are not meant for driving in the snow.
Get a $1000 winter car, and leave the mustang in a gauge for the winter.
I just decided to get a new car, but that’s me and I’m 24. Her they are

Yea, mustangmike01 - I'm shopping for a 'beater / winter rat' now. We had a mild winter last year with a half a dozen or less snowfalls, but it was still a bastard getting around.

My car sucked ***** this winter. Never again...
I'll fork over some cash and buy a second car to drive during the winter. Heck, the way gas prices are, I should just buy an econobox and drive that around ALL the time.

I have one of those pitched garages out back. The only thing i'm worried about is mice getting into it. (or any car for that matter) What can be done about this? The house garage is currently, and perm occupied by a '69 Chevelle.

Drove mine in some snow/ice. Sucked. Dangerous. Moved from harsh St. Louis area winters to milder Ar winters but where we don't have any snow equipment at all and drivers such bad. Fortunately, when bad weather threatens, I drive my 4x4 Suburban which can not be stopped by anything. If my wife ever gets a full time job, I'll have to buy a econobeater dangit.
