Question
Hey guys,
Long story short, I'm going to check out a car, which would be a straight trade. It's a 5-speed '00 GT with a Vortech v-2 sq supercharger (other mods, none of which I think are relevant) and I've been told that it's running rich due to the rings not seating. He said after the stroker kit was installed he put chrome rings on it and he told me i needed to do a lot of highway driving to build up compression to seat the rings. It's apparently only been driven 2-3,000 miles in the past year if that makes any difference.
Does this sound legit? Or any advice?
Thanks in advance

Well ask yourself this...why would he want to trade his car for yours? I assume that's what you meant by "straight trade". Nothing against your car by any means, but here's a guy with a car with a lot of time, money and effort put into it and he wants to trade it off for something that doesn't even remotely compare?

He said he's looking to get out of the modded car scene (also has an Evo) and wants something that's not modded to death. And the value of the 2 cars, in my opinion, is pretty close

If it sounds too good to be true, 10:1 it's too good to be true. You really got yourself a nicely done 4.0 btw. If your gunning for a GT, keeping looking around. There's plenty more to go after. Plus, if you yourself are questioning it, then you already so know the answer.

piston rings do the majority of their seating in the first few hundred miles after install. after already having thousands of miles on the clock, how would driving it seat the rings any better than they are now?
something else is wrong, he gave you a bull**** answer to cover it up. car is in bad shape for one reason or another IMO. pass unless you can get a mechanic to figure out whats up. NEVER buy a car with an unknown problem. if you do, your an idiot or a hell of a gambler.
