1999 4.6L Windsor Valve Cover Gaskets / Grommets go through?
Hi,
I am putting my 1999 GT back together and have a question about the valve cover gaskets. It's a 4.6L Windsor V8 motor.
Ford Valve Cover Gaskets (2L3Z-6584-AA, 2L3Z-6584-BA)
Are the gaskets supposed to slip over the grommets? The way the gasket is molded, and the way the grommets poke through the cover, it sort of looks like it .... and it would hold the gaskets in place real slick. My bad for not paying more attention when I tore it down .... just don't want it to leak.
Appreciate your advice,
Rex

Not sure if you figured this out yet, you probably have by now but yes the bolts slide through the gasket to help hold it in place. The grommet sits in the holes on the top of the valve covers but when you push the grommet/bolt into the cover the bolt has a lip on it so you can slide the valve cover gasket over it underneath. It's a PITA to get every bolt though but at least you don't have to worry about it moving...
