Oil additives to reduce knocking
Alright, this isn't exactly for a 4.6L but it is for my 4.0L SOHC in my explorer, so it is pretty similar and a pretty general questions.
When my explorer is cold it knocks quite loudly, but still performs and runs just fine. I can't tell where the knocking is coming from but it does increase with RPMs and gets quieter as the engine warms up. I know this is a long shot, but I figured I will try one of those "magic in a can" solutions. Which would you guys recommend to quiet the engine down? Rislone? Restore? Lucas? Etc...

In your climate I would try using Valvoline Maxlife 10W-30 or 10W-40 engine oil--as engines age they need heavier oil; especially if they were run on 5W-20 or similar camel **** for the first 100k...
Here in Saint Augustine, FL USA I run 20W-50 Maxlife year-round in my wife's 2003 Toyota Highlander with 185k miles--it's been using that for 50k+ miles...

Here's a video of the engine running, in case anyone has magic ears.
