Default cat removal ???

Ok so i 've been reading passed articals and im still not sure,
i have a 02 gt with a stock exhaust except for flowmaster muffs
if i cut off the back two cats and weld in straight pipes in they're place,what will happen to the car ......CEL,Sound,hp,do i need mils etc.... i dont have to worry bout inspection where i live ......yet and hope i dont have to anytime soon....thx sorry for bring up an old topic but im new to stang life

It will be a lot louder - but it sounds really good. You're better off getting MIL eliminators, so that your check engine light isn't always on. Oh and don't expect too much of a horsepower increase, it's mainly in the butt dyno

Save yourself the trouble and pickup a used offroad midpipe, X or H...depending on your preferences.

hasabettersn, he will still have 2 cats. his CEL may or may not come on.

like purple said, just get an offroad midpipe and call it a day. couple extra horses, better flowing (2.5" pipe vs. 2.25" stock), and zero cats. exhaust shop will not remove the cats for you, so i hope you have a welder in your garage. its a federal offense to tamper with emissions systems if your a shop/dealer.

i agree 100%. cut up exhausts suck IMO.

if i get the mid pipe is it a bolt on or is it welded on? i'll prolly go with x if i get one.

bolt in. plus you could always swap in the stocker for emissions.
