Clutch choices
Okay so I was going to replace the clutch cable on my 98 Mustang GT conv,
However I am considering just putting a whole new clutch in (This will save me alot of time because I will have another 80k miles until I need a new clutch, and I dont want to take all that stuff out again)
So I am just wondering what is a good combination of clutch kits and clutch cables (as I need both, and I )?
Also, for some reason when I first start driving from 0mph my car shakes as I slowly take my foot off the clutch, anyone know the cause?
Thanks,
DmD

There are lots of opinions on clutches. It depends on present and future mods to car. I chose to upgrade to a Centerforce DF clutch. I am very happy with my decision. If you never plan for upgrades, an OEM will do fine.
Most opinions for a clutch cable will be to get an OEM cable.
The reason your car shakes when the clutch engages from 0 mph, is usually a warped flywheel. So, when you install new clutch, be sure to get your flywheel resurfaced, or buy a new one.

I bet the reason why your car is shaking is because of
a failed warped flywheel.Definitley replace your flywheel with a new one.
As for clutch selection I would definitley get a Centerforce Clutch!
I have a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch and I couldn't be happier.
The petal pressure is very close to stock and the shifts are positive
and crisp.I highly recommend getting the Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch
I love mine. Also get a Ford OEM clutch cable, aftermarket quadrant and
firewall adjuster.
Don't get a aftermarket clutch cable though because they are notorious
for stretching, snapping, and breaking on us Ford Mustang enthusiasts.
Get a Ford OEM clutch cable they are the strongest and most durable
to use.
Also I'd avoid the spec clutches like the plauge. My spec stage 2 clutch
disc failed on me in 5K miles of normal driving.I'm happy I have a Centerforce
now though.

+1 on spec being ****ty. I have heard all kinds of bad things. I had a king cobra in my 96 for the short time I owned it. Seemed awesome. Not sure what I will go with next as I am on my stock clutch with what SHOULD be over 400rwhp. But I haven't been on a dyno

had their spec clutches fail on them.
After you do your dyno tune definitley have a clutch installed
because your stock clutch will only take so much abuse before
it fails.Definitley consider a Centerforce DFX clutch if you have
over 400 rwhp and it will give you room to grow if you want more
power down the line.Their are alot of people running in the 400-500
rwhp range using a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch with success!
The Centerforce Dual Friction clutch will have a lighter petal pressure
than the Centerforce DFX clutch of course. Both are excellent clutches
to choose.I really like my Centerforce Dual Friction clutch alot and I would
get one again.

hmm okay thanks! And for the flywheel does the brand matter? also I kinda want a lighter flywheel, just for kicks
the shaking isnt that bad but getting it replaced is a good idea, especially while I have all those parts out of the car.
