Default Door Panel Damage (this HAS to happen to others... right?)

Alright, these have been present since I bought the car, so I'm just seeing if anyone else has this problem or not... and what they've done about it.

A small part of my door panels have been crushed/damaged where the seat/seatbelt touch (the pictures below tell the story). Basically small dents/smashed vinyl on the edge of the door panel trim. I'm wondering if there is a way to fix this (without necessarily replacing the whole door panel), and/or avoid it in the future. It seems like this would happen by the actual seatbelt fastener getting jammed into the panel by shutting the door. Anyway, has this happened to anyone else? Based on how close the seats/belts are to the doors, I can't see this being uncommon, so there's gotta' be a fix for it (or someone has had to have done something for it).

AFAIK there is no repair for that sort of damage, you can trim off the upset plastic and try to visually minimise the damage, however replacement of the door panels is the only real fix...

i know they make some leather repair kits for couches ect... like a gooey paste type stuff you might can try something like that before replacing them. I mean... its worth a try if you are going to have to replace them anyways. I was able to fix a large rip in a black couch with it before and it looked good, so i dont see why it wouldnt maybe work here.

That's the first I have ever seen that. I have owned 6 94-04 mustangs and never had a mark like that. I don't see how the seatbelt is causeing that

My guess is he's not making sure it's fully retracted before closing the door.

Yeah, I'm sure that's what it was (like I said, these were there when I bought the car 4 years ago, so it's just something I've tried to ignore up until now).

I'm definitely surprised that no one else seems to have had this problem though (seems like it would be pretty easy to do). So maybe it is just me...

Anyway, I will be trying a cheap vinyl/leather repair kit, and we'll see how that works out.
