Default Clutch Problems

Just bought a 2001 GT. Was in a collision and sat for a while. I got the car cheap when i picked it up just drove it right on the trailor. Has adjustable clutch cable, stage 3 clutch, Was gonna drive it down the street b4 i tore it down and cannot get it in gear. Grinds in 1st every single time and will not go in any other gear. Ive adjusted clutch cable all over the place but doesnt help. Only way you can get it in gear is to shut the car off and put it in gear. clutch, throwout bearing?? Whats the problem and what all should i try?
Thanks

If you put the transmission in 1st, then try to start the car (clutch pedal pressed in of course), what happens?

U can shut if off. goes into first perfectly fine off, start car and car takes off fine then try to shift into 2nd and either u have to slam it very hard or it doesnt go. try to go into first and just grinds. shut it off put it right back in first and pull it back in shop. thats all i can get out of it.

i would tighten the cable pretty far. unscrew the piece out far and then try it. lik euntil the clutch would be catching right at the end of the travel

The clutch cable was not adjusted properly¹ and the clutch was dragging (not disengaging fully)--just drive it...

------------------------------
¹ - Lifting the clutch pedal with your toe is the proper procedure for activating the semi-automatic clutch cable adjuster. Download an owner's manual here, and read it...
