Default Calling all Electrical Engineers

Hey guys, how are you? So I have a project in my head that is one of my "end goals" by the time I graduate. Sequential Tail Lights. YES, I KNOW they exist already... You see, I want to design it myself and build it from scratch because I am gay like that. (no offense to anybody)

Anyways, just collecting some basic info, Clify if you read this, I hope you have some input. I am trying to hunt down any 4.6 electrical wiring diagrams, and more specifically, the rear break light housing (showing individual bulbs). I seem to only be able to find really irrelevant diagrams that have electrical stuff on them. I am in the process of "trying" to design a sequential blinker, but need the basic inputs I am working with. I am doing this by pure guess, but I assume that you have 3 wires going into the housing, (Brake Press), (Ground), (Fogs/Aux). From there, I believe both (break press) and (fogs/aux) and split into 3 separate wires to each individual bulb. THAT means that I would have to take 3 wires to some "black box" that would turn each bulb on in some order (whatever I design). However, I have no idea how they are actually wired up, and I hope that I can fine a actual diagram that lays the housing out (and not necessarily a diagram of an actual sequential blinker... because that is cheating and would ruin the fun)

Any input is greatly appreciated.

They are not schematics, they are wiring diagrams--it's a subtle yet significant difference.

One other bit--the turn signal and brake light circuit separation is handled by the multifunction switch, you don't need to worry about it in your sequential circuit.

Thanks for all the good info guys. That is exactly what I am looking for. I am trying to get all my information right so I can really start to lay some sort of project out. This will be a project over the next few semesters.

cliffy and whitefox, how do you guys get digital copys of those things? Did you just find them online? WhiteFox, you are running some program, do you work for ford or something?

I have DVDs of the complete Ford line for 2000-2003 with some 2004 stuff, and 2003-2004 (all), got 'em on Ebay. They require resetting the computer date (or tricking the applications which is easier) to run.

I was going to create a installation package that took care of all this, and posted a "who's interested" message in the classifieds ($15 + postage IIRC) however only 2 or 3 people expressed interest so I dropped it.

Someone posted a link to download the 2002 manuals a while back, can't find it now...
