I pulled out what I THINK is the charcoal canister from my emissions system but there's no charcoal in it! Can someone tell me if this is the charcoal canister or if I'm way off?

Where on your car was this located, just by looking at it I have no Idea what it is.

 

It is located on the passenger side up above the wheel well. I had to remove the plastic splash guard to get at it. That device has one pipe going to the top of the fuel tank and another pipe going into the throttle body. To me it seems like this "must" be the canister, I just can't understand why someone would have removed the charcoal from it!

 

It's the Air Pump (not the charcoal canister)...noisey little fuggers (replaced two trying to get one that was quiet.) Why'd you pull it?

It's part of the EGR system and to be honest I'm not sure how the whole system works on the Stangs, all I know is that it's an air pump. Pumps vapors back to the tank?
