Default Gearing Question

Okay guys I am looking into gears now and have some questions correct me if I am wrong but in my 01 gt they are 8.8" gears and come stock 3.27s right? Well my question is for a daily driver are 3.73s going to leave me wanting more or should I go 4.10s even 4.8s lol I kinda still want to use my first gear. Anyways I understand I will also need a new spedo calibration. So something like, this also what kinda mileage do you get after the swap thanks for all the help. I'm curious and had a good night at work

Unless you plan on some big power down the road, 4.10's would probably be your best bet all around. The drop in gas mileage will be hardly noticeable. I didn't notice any measurable drop when i went with my 3.90's.

Do you ever wish you would have gotten 4.10s? and are you happy with 3.90s also is it your daily driver, do you have many mods on the car with your 3.90s? The first gear is still usable lol?

My mods are in my signature. Honestly i'm very happy with my 3.90's. Unless i'm spraying 1st gear is still very usable. It's not my daily driver, but even if it was, i'd still keep the same gearing.

First off thanks for the help and from what I am seeing it is looking like ya'll prefer the 3.73-.90s instead of branching into the 4s, does the tuner calibrate your speedo or just tune the car?

Yes the tuner will recalibrate the speedo as well.

You obviously haven't had 4.10s and 4.30s because in all honestly the difference between 3.73 and 4.10s in terms of gas mileage isn't that much of a gap, especially not enough to say "absolutly horrible". Another problem with you're comment is you cannot judge what rear gear would be optimal without knowing the rear tire size, I'll be running my 4.30s just fine on the street.

I have 3.90s with no noticeable mileage decrease but the smiles per gallon went waaaaaaaay up... I rev at around 2200 at 70mph with about 25mpg and 18 city. 3.73 are gonna leave you wanting more

So how do you explain that I get 25+mpg on the highway with my 4.10s?
