Default Too much for shipping?

Hey, just a quick question and not sure if it's the right place or not. I think I'm getting hosed on shipping. Is $60 too much to ship a 99-04 bassani catted x pipe about 285 miles using fedex or ups? I got quoted using a box size I found on a parts website but I'm not sure if that's accurate.
39 lbs, 30x21x12. I entered 50lbs 34x24x14 with $500 insurance value and got quoted $36 insured. With the exact size and weight I found on the site I got $32 insured. I was expecting $30ish and $60 just sounds off. I don't mind paying the actual shipping cost, just don't want to get hosed and pay double. Any ideas from guys who ship parts frequently? Thanks

UPS is very expensive to ship, they go by both weight and box size and lord forbid if they charge you an oversize charge. For a mid pipe you don't need insurance, not much that can be damaged so that will save a few bucks. And yes, pack the box yourself, god they love charging a kazillion dollars for a $1 box, $0.50 of packaging, and 2 minutes of their time.

I cant pack I myself. I believe it will be coming in the original box also. The listing was priced wrong and I think the guy is trying to get his money through the shipping instead. I don't mind paying the full shipping but I'm just not into getting played like for his mistake. $60 seems a lot for such short shipping

If you feel the shipping charges are too high don't buy it--find a vendor that charges less...

It's a private sale. I was quoted from the calulators $28 fedex and $32 from ups with the dimensions. Of 39lbs. 30x21x12. I just checked USPS and Parcel post is $22.57 while priority mail is $35. Are the dimensions and weight accurate for those who have them? I got the dimensions off this website.

I'm assuming those are accurate numbers
