Default Sequential Shifting vs. Drive..

So on my car I have the 1 2 D pattern, now are there any advantages to driving like that over leaving it in drive. Does it essentially work like a clutch-less manual, as i can hold it in gear to get the power out of the car, or is really just slowing me down by driving like that. Thank you for the help

Actually, from what I have read, that can be bad for the transmission. I used to do that some but have stopped because of what I've read about it. It's been a while, I don't remember specifically what/where I read up on this, but I definitely remember the gist of it was 'not good for transmission'...

There is a thread about this like two below this one. Look before you ask cause it will keep the overflow down.

Shifting 1-2-D will not harm a thing. With a proper custom tune you it will always be faster to stay in D. I do however downshift out of a upshift into D a lot in traffic, I really love having the control as I find that our ECU does not make the best of decisions when in 20-50MPH traffic. In fact it makes ****ing retarded decisions like trying to stay in overdrive below 40MPH when totally warm.
