Default Engine bogs out in 4th and 5th.

So my little problem is my 2001 mustang bullitt runs great through 1st-3rd then i hit 4th it completly bogs down once any throttle is givin car does not shut off there is just zero throttle response then 5th bogs down right around 2300rpm. Any suggestions or past experiences similar. there is a vortech v2 on it with 42lb injectors new msd coil pack new spark plugs on it.

Has it ever run properly?

Is the SES lamp lit (if so read the codes), do you know what sort of MAF and tune it might have?

Have you done any data logging to see what things look like when it bogs?

Yes it ran great until this happened a day ago and no lights are lit i scanned it with a diablo tuner and came up with nothing. I bought it with the vortech already on it previous owner said it was installed and tuned by steeda.

Was there anything at all noticeable that happened at or about the time the problem manifested itself--anything?

How "new" are the MSD COPs? I have worked on 3 GTs, including my own with Accel COPs, on which the after market COPs failed in < 20k miles. Same for the plugs, how "new" are they, what brand/model are they, how are they gapped?

I ask all this because it sounds like spark blowout under heavier loads. Often this does not trigger a misfire DTC because the misfire goes away when you back off--there may be pending misfire codes, does your scanner let you read pending codes?

Cliff has a good point there. I had a 99 Blazer that I could feel a miss, but no code was tripped. Took it over to my buddy's place who had a scan tool, cyl 3 had missfired over 20,000 times. It never did throw a code.

Im thinking cliff has a horrible point , why in the hell would he have blow out when he doesnt have any blow? The car is a vortech and deff isnt in the boost right into 4th...please try again.

My mother always said "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything.", so I'll try something nice.

Perhaps Mr. Vulture can provide some other poignant points to assist in resolving the OP's problems...

If you’re so smart, why don’t you stop saying how wrong people are, and actually come up with a probable cause to the issue?

As an FYI, Cliff has personally helped me with many issues, and as you would find out if you were not an idiot, is very well respected, as well as knowledgeable....

im just saying that blowout would need some blow, a vortech just doesnt have it right into 4th...id expect you to know that. id shoot for the ignition coil , but id also think it would be a problem in all gears. what else you got cliff , your the tech.
