injector trouble. car runs like crap!
hello there forum. i recently swapped out my stock injectors for ford blue top 24lb's on my 2000 gt. even after a custom tune my mustang is running like crap. the idle is very rough, the throttle is very jumpy, and the thing is smoking like crazy. i've been back and forth with american muscle working with the tuners over there trying to work out any tuning issues. from what they see my tuning is fine but they suggested that my that my upstream o2 sensors were not not working right and suggested i change them. i changed them today and it made no difference and cost me $100. i bought these injectors used on another forum and i think at this point the problem may be the injectors themselves. i know a lot of you fellow forum members really know your stuff so if anyone has any ideas or thoughts any help would be great.
thanks

Was it running properly with the stock injectors and appropriate tune? If so then the suggestion that the front O2 sensors might be bad seems odd.
Are you certain AM understands the injectors are the EV1 "blue-tops" (p/n M-9593-A302) and not the newer EV6 (p/n M-9593-AA302)?
Between the two the low slope, breakpoint, and minimum pulse width parameters are quite different.
Here's the calibration summary for the "blue-tops" (the flow rates are in lb/s, multiply by 3600 to get lb/h).
Then there is of course the possibility that the injectors are bad and may need to be cleaned or rebuilt. If that's the case, weigh that cost against the $170 that a set of new EV6 injectors costs.

i'm pretty sure that AM knows which injectors we are dealing with. in any case they had me download the data logging software and data log the info from the cars computer and send it to them. so they are now working off of that data log info instead of me just telling them what's what. so i would assume they have a pretty good idea of what's going on with my tuning. i'm trying to do my part to help them figure out what the issue could be at this point. i'm leaning towards the injectors being no good seeing how they are used. got em from somebody on corral.net. the dude said they were good..

and yes it was running excellent with the stock injectors with the tune i was running with all my other mods so you are right that the o2 sensors being bad does seem odd. i just figured i'd try it. my car has been sitting for 2 weeks so i was down to try anything really. i have no check engine lights on.. nothing.
