Default What Do I Need?

Im trying to build a SRT8 killer (Charger,Challenger,300) and I would like you guys expertise on modifications that I would need to beat such a car. No NOS , turbo or supercharger. Im trying to do it naturally aspirated if I can. I already have o/r x pipe , flows 44 series, U/D pullies, CIA, Tuned 91 octane. MSD Coils running NGK plugs. Low temp thermostat.

A set of sticky tires and some lowers gears should do it. Also a little suspension work will also help you launch. Those srt8 are big heavy cars.

I think of the cars you mentioned that the Challenger is the fastest one, I think it does like a 13.3 1/4 mile. If you're talking about doing this on a track, then 4.30 gears and some suspension stuff like lca's and a little weight reduction, and let's not forget sticky tires ought to close the gap as long as you can drive.

Oh Ok , so I was thinking and this may take me about a year to do but I was gonna go with comp stage 2 cams, 3.73 gears. Its a automatic Im gonna go with long tubes and shorty o/r h. 24lb injectors and get it retuned of course. I should be running close to 350 RWHP by then right?

no. with those mods you will most likely be between 280-300 rwhp with an automatic.

with whats mentioned above, plus cams, you'll have no problem taking one at the track as long as its stock with bolt ons. i have a srt8 magnum and with the factory 3.08 gears, its a dog until about 3000 rpms. they come factory with headers and high flow exhaust so any bolt ons but gears, will make little difference. good luck with stompin one, youre on the way to doing it

Yeah with the auto you probably won't see much over 280 rwhp. But with the mods you are talking about (and good tires) you should be able to take a stock SRT8 down.

Good DEAL! So I'm not far away from achieving my goal. But as i mentioned before I wanted to go stage 2 comp cams, but I was reading this thread https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l...99-04-2vs.html
What I got from this thread was that if I have stock internals/bottom end (which I do) I need to go with stage 1 cams which is fine but I have a couple of questions. Can I reuse my old springs or do I need to replace them, I have 71k on the clock. Does it still provide that nice loping sound as a stage 2 cam would? Would I still get pretty much the same results?

Really it depends on the specs, but most stage 1 cams will be fine with the stock springs. I did it with 50k, rev to 6200-6400 on a consistent basis (run nitrous up to 6 grand as well) and all has been fine.

The choppy idle you're referring to is controlled by your exhaust setup, and idle rpm big time. With that in mind, you can make most stage 1 n/a cams for the PI motor sound pretty good.
