Plug Blow Out
Got the car back they had to put some kind if an adapter thread in the head, but now that cylinder takes a different plug, us this normal for this type of repair? I ended up paying about 185 because I had him torque the rest of the plugs just to make sure it won't happen again. I think a set of ported PI heads are in my future. But it runs great.
Make sure all the plugs are torqued to 13-14lbs and it can save you such a headache in the future. I had one hole helicoiled and when that failed it left an oversized hole and now i'm in the process of having to replace the whole cylinder head.
The head only has about. Four threads worth holding in the plug. Just make sure like tkbaby13 says.... Make sure the plugs are torqued between 13-14 lbs and you should be fine. I'm going to start checking mine every time I get the oil changed. Also noticed a slight ticking noise before it happened, now plug is fixed ticking is gone.
Hmm, that sucks. I was looking at aftermarket heads for these engines and they are really expensive. I could get a set of performance heads for my old dakota for about $800. Everything I find for the 4.6 is more like $3000
My bad, closer to $1400. patriot performance. I'm still new to this engine, so i don't know if they are worth a damn or not.
